My favorite go-to place for awesome Mexican food!! I love the convenience of the drive thru and they are pretty quick with getting your order. We had carne Asada tacos and carne Asada quesadilla....YUM!!

I would give this place no stars if I could. As soon as I walked in the lady at the counter made me feel like I was unwelcome. I waited 15 minutes for my food as people walked in and out receiving their orders. The lady apologized to every one who had some issues but not to me..I felt like she was trying to rush me off when she gave me food. My breakfast burrito was really good but I won't be returning due such poor service.

I just moved into the area and my house is being renovated right now, my kitchen is not really up and running yet. So I stopped by here a few times for breakfast. I've had the #4 breakfast burrito(eggs, bacon, beans and cheese) multiple times, its pretty well stuffed and yummy. I have also ordered the pancakes with eggs and bacon. The pancakes are fluffy and taste good! Everything is pretty cheap too so I cant complain about that. The guy taking my order was super polite and kind. I never have a problem asking for a lot of salsa either. This place will probably be my go to spot for breakfast burritos, they've stayed consistent on flavor and size.

We have been going here at least once a week for 7 years. So yea it was good. I still recommend it during the day. BUT, don't go in the evening. The staff at night are more concerned with talking on there cell phones and being cool than taking acute orders or moving the drive through line along. I actually waited 45 minutes at the drive through, watched cars drive away, only to find out the lost my order. I hope it improves, but for now our family will be going somewhere else.

I would give this place only 3 stars because the food was good but the service was bad. I went through the drive thru the man was rude and asked me twice for salsa and i said green and gave me red. But overall good food bad service.

Nando's is a taco shop in the neighborhood that I frequent. It has a drive thru so if your pressed for time or the lazy bug has got you. The drive thru is perfect. The building itself has been there for years. It has changed owners a few times in the past with different names attached to it but as far as I can remember. It has always been a Mexican taco shop. Nando's in particular has been around for awhile now. Six, seven years? Maybe longer. I feel the current owners have done well. The taco shop cranks out solid Mexican food. The best thing on the menu being the carne asada chips. Warm chips covered in strips of tender cut carne asada, sour cream, guacamole and cheese. Enough for two to three people. Very good.

One of my favorite places to eat! They're always friendly and I love their food!!! They're a little slow getting the food out but I take that just to mean that it's made to order! Highly recommend this place!

I think the food is good and the prices are good as well. But I would recommend that you do drive through only! They have no a/c and they have really bad customer service!! Today I went for lunch and we decided to go eat outside because it was hotter inside. We sat down and soon realized the worker came outside as well and sat on a table next to us. To our disbelief he began to smoke! I had three kids with me!! I asked him to immediately put it out!!! He did but still had bad customer service skills!

Had to update my review because I have been back a couple of times and have had a couple different people make my food. Went here on my way back from Az one night. Figured if im out this way might as well get somthing from my favorite taco shop. I went through the drive thru as I do most times. And these two youngsters were working it was about8:45-9. First it sounded like they were messing around while taking our order. When I got my order,we decided we wanted to eat in the car it smelled so good. No forks were in the bag. Luckily we were right next to it. Still an hour left till closing and they already had the door locked. Not only that, but they made my girl walk to the drive thru window to get the forks. We were to hungry to care. Not sure if it was undercooked or old but the meat was off....... i do not know there names but.. I know the names of the 2 other people wbo I hope I deal with every time I am there. DULCE Y ALVARO gracias por todo. Dulce is always awesome. Makes sure we have everything we need. Alvaro cooks like my jefe and jefita back in my home town. You can always hear him in the back singing along with the radio just like my jefe jaja.. When ever they are working I know I am going to very much enjoy my meal. After telling her about the 2 youngsters I delt with she apologized multiple times and told me she will talk to them because that is not how this business should be run. Im glad i finnaly found a place were atleast I know ill be taken care of and my opinion matters. Only down side besides that one time is watch out with the patio seats. They are not bolted down. A bigga homie like me should not sit on the edge jaja. Even with those 2 small issues I cant take off a star because I know 99.9% of the times I have been here Dulce y Alvaro have been the best. Dont forget to try my favorite thing carne asada fries with just meat, cheese, rice, and beans. You get a huge portion... oh and one last thing. I know especially you ladies will like to know the bathroom while it is just one small bathroom it is very clean and well kept. Smells clean too.

I was the only car in the drive thru and they got my 1 burrito order totally wrong. Also the guy was rude to me. Only reason 1 star is the salsa is OK

To all of my Carne Asada loving friends, I need to share a not so cute story. I have been coming back here for burritos and noticed that every time I finish eating within an hour or so, I have the runs. I know terrible picture but true. I wanted to make sure so I went back again and yes it happened again. Today was the last straw. I apologize if this is too much information but I thought you may want the truth. So, there it is. My tummy hurts :'(

  • Tony B.

The one star is for the horrible service... Big hairy dude working the drive thru really needs to stay home if he doesn't want to go to work. First he's out in the back hanging out listening to music then he made it pretty obvious that he didn't want to take my order. Makes me wait at the window for a while before he even makes it to the front. Doesn't say hi or anything instead plugs his phone to the charger gets himself something to drink and then takes my payment and that's it. No thanks or come back soon nothing. I ordered carne asada fries which are not bad but living in San Diego you can get them anywhere won't be going back to this place again. I should've just drove off.

  • Kelly C.

This is by far my favorite taco shop in San Diego. They are the only taco shop that has the exact breakfast burrito I want (without having to add or remove anything) for a very reasonable price and good portions.

  • Ernesto M.

Small place, when you walk in you may think twice to eat here, but if you do you would not regret it! I jad the California burrito and it was off the hook! Good size and everything tasted fresh. We also had the rolled tacos again good size and tasty. I will definitely come back when I'm in the area.

  • Annalyse S.

I tried their Carnitas burrito today. It was nice tender and juicy. Good enough flavor to even skip the hot sauce! 3 stars for wait time at the drive thru but pretty much worth it

  • Dementle S.

I will make this quick.. started coming here because the carne asada burritos were good. Sorry to say this is the last time I will be purchasing from Nando's. The last 3 visits my carne asada burrito has been a total disaster. I do not know if there is a money issue or what the deal is .. but here is a picture of what I have been served on my last 3 visits. I order a carne asada burrito without any salsa and here is what a get. (Refer to pictures). I literally had to combine all of what was inside to get a half of a decent burrito. After re wrapping my burrito and taking a bite . I discarded it.. it wasnt even good. I thought I found the carne asada burrito spot I was looking for. I was definitely wrong. Maybe there is a new cook. The owner is very nice... My search continues

My go to place for my mexican food fix. Love that they have a drive thru and overall very friendly. They never cheap out on the salsas and the food is always good.

  • James P.

Very good Mexican food here. I've been coming to this place for years. When I was living in Los Angeles it was very hard to find a decent SD style burrito. Every time I would come down to visit I this was the first place I would go to. The breakfast burritos are great, and the carne asada fries are just perfect. Most of the staff there have always been nice and helpful. The young woman that works there is great and the older guy, I'm assuming is Nando is awesome as well. My only problem is the younger man there working the drive thru. I'm always waiting forever on him even when no one else is there. On more than one occasion I left because he was so slow or never took my order at the drive thru. When ever I see him working I just don't bother. I'll still give this place 4 stars for the food alone. I just wish it was open 24 hours.

    (4)
  • Zcomputerguy Z.

The best Mexican food ever Mr nando is very nice and so are all the employees they treat you like family try the rolled tacos soft and the Carne a sad a chips

  • Kate S.

If i could give zero stars I would. The customer service is terrible. Never coming here again. Watch out for the girl in glasses ... Very rude! We were eatting at 9:40 and she turned off the lights outside. We were left in the dark. Not even a goodbye or were closing shop? Fuck this place. Don't come here unless you wanna be treated like garbage.

  • Andy S.

I was in the area and thought I would give this place a try. As I walked in I was greeted right away, very politely with a smile (star there). I ordered a carne asada burrito and carne asada fries, the wait became a drag as people started to pull up to the drive thru. After taking longer than I expected , my order was called, when I went to go get my food I received an apology for the inconvenience and the wait. I'll start out by saying the meat was very juicy and flavorful Mmmmmm hot sauce was on point Not watery, flavorful. Overall I would recommend you this place if your ever in the area and want to have a bite , the price is decent compared to other places in the area. I will be coming back soon.

  • Rock P.

Ok, yes the woman who works the night shift can be a witch, but I'm not here to write about how hard it is to get good help. I'm a fan of greasy, crispy edged, yummy carnitas. Used to nearly live at ye olde taco shop on Adams before the business was sold. Outside a big sit down restaurant this is the only "fast food" Mexican that comes close. It has that old style pork carnitas I always hope for when I order them anywhere. You'll need a ton of napkins, and it will ruin a shirt if you drip, but worth the danger.

    (5)
  • Aya G.

You can count on most items to be pretty good here. They have the best breakfast burritos! #4 with bacon yumm. The carne Asada has good seasoned taste to it. The carne Asada fries are a huge portion. Prices are pretty INexpensive to other taco shops and they take debit and are drive thru!

    (4)
  • Marsellus W.

Very mediocre food. Bland salsa as well. The biggest turn off I must admit was the girl with the glasses who worked at the counter. Very very rude, and seemed incredibly unappreciative of our business. I think after I experienced that, I may have not given the food a fair shake. Either way, there are plenty of taco shops to go to, we just won't be returning to this one.

I stopped by here this week for some dinner because this week has been hectic at work getting ready for open house, so I have not had time to make dinner lately, but I have been making time for Yelping of course. I was going to get their pollo asado burrito but then I noticed a special of 2 chicken tacos with rice and beans for $4.99 plus tax, so I decided to try that instead. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/kirG… ) To my surprised, the tacos were not shredded chicken tacos, but they were grilled chicken in a crispy shell. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/kirG… ) I was not about to refuse such good food, so I ate it. The tacos were very good. The shell was perfectly fried and not oily which means the oil temp was just right. The chicken was good but perhaps a tad over cooked, but it still remained tender. The tacos were yummy. The beans were very good. They had that nice traditional Mexican flavor as if they used a little lard. Now, I am not saying they use lard, so don't go all crazy on me. Bottom line, they tasted good. The rice was very good. It was nice and fluffy, good separation, and has excellent flavor. Good stuff. ( yelp.com/biz_photos/kirG… ) The service was actually very good given that the drive thru was very busy. There was only one girl at the front and she was handling things very well. Good job. The place is not the pretties place but it gets the job done. Thanks Mimi for the tip on this place....

Have been searching for a taco shop that has great meat, great prices and even better hot sauce. After trying out every taco shop within a 1 mile radius from my home, I decide to try Nandos out. The first thing I liked was their drive through option but later started to notice that my usual California Burrito fast and easy order took a little bit longer here because of the drive through. Got a California burrito for $5.99 plus tax. Came with sour cream, guacamole and cheese. Wasn't really fond of their flour tortilla.. Too floury and soft for me, guacamole tasted kind of bland and cheese wasn't really melted. But if there's one thing that I absolutely hate, it's that taco shops(like this one) have a max on hot sauce. Like do I really have to eat here to get all that hot sauce in my belly? Jeez!

Best California Burrito around. Fernando (the owner) is a great guy and is passionate about his food.

I used to live for nando's but a new cook and employees that all always seem to close early have ruined it for me. The food is still decent but not what it once was. The owner is very nice and I would have no problem giving him my business otherwise.

  • Amy S.

This is easily my new favorite taco shop. My family came here yesterday for some breakfast burritos. We had the number 1, 3, and 4's. Number 3 was amazing. Eggs, cheese, guacamole. Mmmmmm. Everything is reasonably priced, clean, and much healthier than any other burrito I've had in a while. Drive through or eat there. Either way, 5 stars and worth the drive from wherever you are.

    (5)
  • Jake H.

Of all the fast food mexican around San Diego, the tortillas and hot sauce here might be the best. Get the california burrito. It's too bomb. Not to mention, I dropped my wallet here without noticing, went back the next day, and they held it for me, and nothing was missing. Bonus!

    (5)
  • J T.

I used to love love love the breakfast burrito here. The beans were the best. The past couple times I've been back to Nando's I've noticed that they changed the recipe or something. Now the beans are bland and taste like they came out of a can. Please change them back to the original recipe!!!

First time visit, i ordered tacos al pastor, carnitas and of course carne asada (no guacamole) Not bad, not bad at all. No I wasn't super impressed but I'm quite satisfied; these tacos were huge. The price was ok too.

I've lived in lemon grove for almost a year now and I've been looking for a good taco shop because I don't want to drive to the barrel everytime. I went to Cotijas about 8 months ago and I did not like it. The fries are fat and the fatter the fries in carne asada fries, the more soggy it gets and it breaks. Ever since then I assumed all the taco shops around here suck so I haven't tried anymore. Until today. I pass by Nando's every morning when I'm on my way to get on the 125. I've seen their yelp reviews and told myself I'd try it one day but I never got the chance to til today. I was originally going to get rolled tacos but I saw they had carnitas fries. (Something most taco shops don't have) so I decided I try that and it was delicious!! The meat is so tender and flavorful. Perfectly seasoned and they WERE NOT stingy on the meat!! the fries are so crispy and good. And the hot sauce has a great kick. The guacamole and sour cream had a perfect ratio too. Definitely coming back to try the rolled tacos and chimichangas!

updating my review after 7 months. last night we got veggie burritos, like we alway do. honestly, compared to what we usually get from there, they sucked. I'm only saying they sucked based on what I'd come to expect from this taco shop over the last 9 months that I've been eating here. (my husband has been eating here for over 8 years!) I understand that all cooks have an off night so I just called to see what's going on and maybe place an order for pickup. because were hungry after football practice and don't feel like cooking. what I was told is that there is a new cook. well no thanks I'll pass. last night I was not impressed AT ALL by the new cook. not worth my money honestly. and taco shop is a very cheap meal option. in a place like San Diego, with so much competition, I mean cotijas is down the street- I would think you would make sure a new cook knows how to deliver a product your customers have come to expect. whatever. not 5 stars anymore, in my opinion. it barely earned the third star from me. the burrito from last night is only worth one star but this place has friendly service and great value for your money ( at least until they got this new cook)

I've lived in Lemon Grove for 3 yrs and have been going to Nando's the whole time, since it has a drive-thru. I go at least twice a week. I am no longer going to give them my business because of the service. The young guy that takes the orders is not friendly at all. He doesn't have good people skills. I much prefer the women that work there, but haven't seen any in a while. The guy always asks how many salsas I want, but doesn't listen to me and always gets it wrong. He never gives me my receipt. I always have to ask for it. Last night I went in, he gave me my food and left the window. I sat there calling for him to come back so that I could get my receipt. I called out for 5min, then drove off. I'm just tired of dealing with him. I think that he's the owner's son. The food is good, but the service stinks. I'm taking my business to Rosarito Mexican Food until they open up the Santana's. I like the Santana's burritos the best.

  • Ryan B.

The nice thing about Nando's is that they have a drive thru. I normally get the order of 12 Rolled Tacos, to share with a couple of people, and a large Horchata to drink. I have not tried a lot of their food, but the rolled tacos are good and relatively inexpensive.

    (4)
  • Mimi S.

A friend of mine said this place was so good so I gave them a try. Happy to report back that this place really is really good. I tried their "Al Pastor" tacos and horchata both were delicious! This is the best Mexican food Ive had in San Diego County. The tacos werent as spicy as I am use to for Al Pastor but at least they actually got the correct seasoning in. I went in today for a second time to see if anything changed and it was still good! I ordered the Carne Asada tacos very delicious. Only things you got to know are the following: 1. Prices are good. 2. They put yucky tomatoes in their tacos, so if you simply detest tomatoes as much as I do tell them "No Tamates!" I had to pick mine out the first time. 3. They give you salsa. 4. You have to ask for limes. Enjoy!

  • Theresa G.

Every time I go thru the drive thru they forget something. It drives me nuts. Most of the time it's just the sauce or side of sour cream. But then I have to come back and sit thru the drive thru again for my missing items. Last night it was the rolled tacos. I bought three burritos and 5 rolled tacos, it wasn't even a huge order. The guy that was working was pretty rude. But, the ladies that work there are always friendly. The food is pretty average. The cost is average too. I am giving them one star due to the service.

OK so you're thinking drive through Taco place 5 stars...really? Yup! Hands down 5 stars; Nando's is so flipping good! I mean seriously if I loved closed I'd be eating this daily. I'm an outside sales rep and on the road all over SD and Nando's always hits the spot when I'm here. The owner works the drive through menu and he's so sweet on top of the great food. Keep up the good work!

  • Aaron H.

Great surprise. In the top 10 tacos shops for SD. I think this is my favorite place for rice. Beans are very good too with the right amount of cheese, just wish they were less runny. The beef taco and burrito is where it's at. Got the combo plate with taco, burrito, rice and beans and it was so good! Had to force myself to finish because there was so much food. Anyone who likes Mexican food should check this place out.

  • Matthew D.

We used to really like eating here until there was a change in staff. Not sure if there's a different cook but he can't seem to get our order right. EVER. The food is good when they get the order correct but that doesn't happen anymore. When I order and then confirm the order at the window I expect to get what I ordered. Is that too much to ask? It's not hard. Especially when it's not busy! Watch out for the re-fried beans. Got a small piece of metal in a combination plate once. Fortunately I saw it shining from the beans before I ate it. Get your sh!t together Nandos. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else. No stars if it would let me.

Holy amazing chicken fajitas! I consider myself an expert on the field of fajitas.... so for me to say that means you should try them. The taco sauce they have in the bottle is amazeballs!

Since I moved to spring valley almost 10 years ago, this has been my family's favorite taco shop. We've come here so often they know my whole family and already know what we like to order. The food is really good and they always give great service. I believe their best items are the carnita fries, carneasada fries, California burrito and roll tacos are spool good!!! The only thing that is a bummer is that I wish they were open later at night. Great food, great service, gotta love nandos!

Nando's is my go to for great drive through Mexican food. Best carnitas I've ever had. IfThey even went out of their way to help me with a custom order of just carnitas, which I really appreciate.

Ahhh Lemon Grove, the land of Mexican food galore. Amongst all the Mexican food options in the Grove, Nando's definitely sticks out for me. They make some of the best chilaquiles around! I love that they have a drive thru too.

This place came highly recommended while I was shopping at Sam's club by an employee there and she did not disappoint. The Carnitas taco and rolled tacos were awesome. Carne Asada fries YUM and a huge serving. First time eating there and will definitely come back.

Nando's Taco Shop is the best taco shop I've been to in a long time. Staff is very polite and they have the best california burritos and carne asada fries. And they have the best hot sauce!!!

  • T.W B.

Have gone there for so long as I used to because it looks like Nados has changed their chef. The food isn't as good as before. The amount of their food has been reduced so much! I used to go get the breakfast burrito cuz it's my fav. But they gave a half less then before....

This taco shop is located on Broadway in Lemon Grove . It's far away from the trolley station so it doesn't get that busy. The food here is really good, my husband and I live down the street from Rosarita's Taco shop and can walk there in less than 2 minutes, but we would rather make the drive to Nando's for their food. We love their breakfast burritos. My husband is a rolled taco aficionado so he knows a good roll taco when he eats it. He thinks Nando's rolled tacos are one of the best. I had their Chicken Torta once, and I wasn't impressed. The one from Rosarita is a lot better. I would highly recommend this place. It never gets busy, the price is good and so is the food.

  • Brittani W.

Bombbb breakfast burritos. Perfect size. Asked for crispy bacon, eggs and potatoes. Green and red hot sauce some of the best I've had. Friendly service, fast drive thru, & reasonable prices! My new place in the area:)

  • Sean H.

It gets no better than Nando's. Before I left for San Francisco, I ate here 4 times a week RELIGIOUSLY!! The food here is top notch and is full of flavor. You never have to wait long and the owner, Nando, is such a great guy. He always has a smile on his face and always gives good customer service. I will only eat a California Burrito from THIS PLACE. Net time you go, tell him Sean sent you. Oh and amazing beef tacos and choritzo.!!!!!

Super nice people. Their California burrito is the best one I've ever had and I can never finish it. They serve really great food and they have a drive thru!

  • Gregg D.

Well I have been back 3 times since my first review. This place rocks. Never too busy, always good. I even managed to try a couple of different tacos and a combo plate. All very good. The menu is well rounded, like a cross between a street taco cart and the 'typical Alberto's' type menu. The workers are always pleasant and courteous. I have definitely put this place in my mental list of "what's for lunch" choices.

    (4)
  • Janell M.

I love Nando's. I go when I can justify a jaunt through the drive-thru. They're pretty decently quick, your food is always fresh, they have killer guac and salsa - and their prices aren't bad either. I highly recommend their enchiladas and rolled tacos. I tried a chile relleno but I'm pretty picky about seeds, and was disappointed to see seeds (and stem) whole in the pepper when I sliced into it. It tasted great still, just seed-y. And Nando is one of the nicest people on the planet!

    (5)
  • Nika R.

Awesome awesome awesome place. I highly recommend their carnitas plate and the pollo asado burrito. I like how the meat on the carnitas plate isn't too hard, it's cooked just right. Also awesome tortillas, rice and beans. Will for sure be our new spot.

I had the nerve to go back and I got ripped once again! The cashier couldn't get my CC to work through their broke down merchant processor and she told me she didn't know what to do and asked me to pull around as my order, California burrito and carne Asada fries, got cold. She told me she called her boss and he told her not to sell me the food and that she was sorry she didn't what to do! I told her I think you should give me the food, it's not my fault! I also told her I would go get the money and come back but that I wanted my order remade and she promised she would! My husband went to go pick up the order and she told him she was sorry, she offered him free carrots or a drink, he took the cup full of ice if that's what they call a horchata drink. When he got home, the burrito was fresh but the fries were cold very cold!!! If you want to eat some tasty fresh Mexican taco shop food in lemon grove, go to Rosarito's on lemon grove avenue just past the VA hall! I couldn't post without finding another place for to go to where you'll be satisfied!

I've been here a couple times for their breakfast burritos and they never disappoint. Plus I end up paying less than $4 for a huge burrito. My friends go here for lunch almost every day and say that their other food is really good too. The guy that usually works the register always remembers me because I special order my food, and they always get it right. It's out of the way for me but definitely worth the trip

Nando's is the real deal and then some. Biggest, fattest carne asada taco I've ever had, and for the standard $1.99. This thing had enough steak for three tacos. And the fish tacos were fantastic. It wouldn't surprise me to see this place develop a cult following throughout all of San Diego. I'll go back whenever possible.

California burrito is never a let down. The carne asada fries are a solid choice as well. Last visit I ordered a chicken chimichanga that was eh.. ok. Non the less I will be returning whenever a quick delicious burrito is what I'm craving.

These small taco shops tend to be excellent or awful. There is not much middle ground here. Nando's is one of the best. The food was fresh and fast. The beef tacos were very good. The food is also very affordable. The people working were friendly and helpful.

The food here is very good. And I appreciate the convenience of a drive-thru. The customer service, however, was poor. Not only did it sound as if the lady working the window hated her job, but she never appologized for getting my order wrong when I had to drive all the way back for the correct items. Perhaps I'll visit again as a walk-in customer as I did see a couple of people having a seemingly good time with one of the workers at the counter.

Nando's is a hidden gem in Lemon Grove. They were open for a couple of hours during the big San Diego blackout in September. Now that's what you call good customer service! They make the best carne asadas and pollo asadas (the chicken is grilled not stewed, makes all the difference, according to my bf who can't get enough of it) and I absolutely can't get enough of their red salsa. The best part is they have a drive thru and accept credit cards (unlike Cotijas down the street).

My favorite mexican restuarant. I will drive from City Heights to get their food. I love everything I have had, because it's all real food, nothing frozen, nothing fake. Authentic and fresh. Plus it's a family place, and the owner and his wife are so so sweet, and you can see their son working sometimes too. :)

Tried Nandos after driving by it since it was built! Missed out on some fine Mexican food. Large portions expertly prepared and very tasty, just like Mexico's best carne shops. I guess it was fortunate we did not know how good Nandos was, because I would be 300lbs gross weight! Not fancy, just great food at unreasonably low prices.

Food is always fresh and not too greasy. Their Pollo Asado is awesome and so are their Chilaquiles. Good sized portions overall and the drive thru is pretty efficient for a taco shop. I love the fact that I can drag the kids with me and not have to get out of the car.

*This is a review for the California Burrito only For awhile now I have been on a hunt for the best California Burrito, and surprisingly the first one I ever tried is still the best. I got word from a good friend that this place had what he thought was the best Cali Burrito, and he has tried many more places than me being that he lives in Chula Vista. Sadly I must say that this one did not live up to expectations, but that doesn't mean it was bad. It was still a good burrito, but there are many things that could use improvement. The fries were not fried enough, and there seemed to be very little of them in the burrito. The meat was okay but it seemed that it hadn't all been cooked to the same doneness which threw me off a little. Lastly, though I love guac and sour cream, they actually put too much of it on, and that coupled with the juices from the meat created a sauce that was just a little too plentiful. I do agree that it is a good burrito, and fairly decent in size. If you're looking for a cheap Cali Burrito in Lemon Grove, this is the place to go probably.

Wow!!! This place has the best CHILLI QUILLES ever!!! And the rice is the most amazing rice I've ever tasted!!! My son loves the CARNE ASADA TACOS. My daughter loves the CARNE ASADA FRIES and my husband loves the CHICKEN ADOBO. It is very much like my mother used to make. I will always drive the distance to get some great Mexican food!! :)

I was a long time Cotija's customer ever since I moved into Lemon Grove back in 2004, but their recent change in cook or whatever change has caused their burritos to change in size (much smaller) as well as their sauce for their a la diabla nachos. So, I looked on yelp to see what other mexican food joints near me had good ratings and that's when Nando's popped up. Never really gave this place a chance because it always looked lonely. But, wow, this place is really really good. Everything I have tried is really delicious -Bean n cheese burrito, rolled tacos, calif burrito and their pollo asado & carne asada fries. The only sucky part for them is that they r located at the other side of the tracks, which causes them to be far from the other food joints on Broadway. However, they r worth the drive.

Boring, flavorless carne asada burritos, chopped meat to high hell. Not much cheese to their bean and cheese burritos. Skip this place.

I always try out a new taco shop by getting two tacos. The standard carne asada and whatever else floats my boat. Today I chose the mighty carnitas and I was impressed, but only by the carnitas. The carne asada taco was alright, a little bland, over cooked, but the tomato's and guacamole were well done. One of my main complaints is the corn tortillas, which turned into mush as the moisture took over and luckily they serve it with two, otherwise it would have been a complete mess. The carnitas meat was wonderfully cooked with a nice crispiness without being dry. The same toppings as the carne, but much better flavor. One thing I did like is that the portions were just right. Far too often I've gotten tacos the size of burritos, but I'd rather pay the same for quality rather quantity. I will go back to try out some of their other goods, like a burrito, but for now, I'm sticking to my 3 stars! I'd recommend sabor, up the street by smart and final, before this place. UPDATE--- the adobada and carnitas are great. the carne and rolled tacos are not so great...

I have only tried the breakfast burritos and they are the best I have ever tasted. The beans are so yummy. I get the bean, cheese, bacon, and egg burrito. I highly recommend it. I have been coming to this place off and on for over 10 years and they have never made it poorly.

Chorizo breakfast burrito is sooo good. We order them at least 3 times a week at work. Family owned and opperated. Very cool people, and great service with a smile. I wish I could tell you about their other food, but Chorizo is all I ever get. Give it a try!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
